The Inside Spectrum: The Philippine's "Fake News" Problem

Image
Caleb Pangan              October 5, 2022 Fake news has been filed as an offence in Philippine law, even though this has been in action for about a decade already, the spread of fake news seems to be at its prime now in the present. The term “fake news” in and of itself is a contradiction, as news must be accurate–if it weren’t so, it would not be labelled as news. In its seriousness, “fake news” literally goes against accuracy and reliability; fake news and false information are literally lies.  The spread of false and distorted information has been made easier in this modern age through social media. We no longer have to only rely on messengers and radios to pass along information, now, a connection is all that will do for us to send a message. And even scarier, with things such as “follower counts”, “subscribers”, and such, someone who is relatively popular within a social media platform has the ability to post and spread a false agenda ...

Unemployment: Pushing through the rough seas

Image
Timothy Pesigan  October 4, 2022  One of the most common and prevalent issues here in the Philippines is unemployment. Due to unemployment, many people among the lower classes of society are struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families. Filipinos finding work, taken from The Philippine Daily Inquirer. One of the more recent and biggest causes of mass unemployment in the Philippines is of course the pandemic brought upon by COVID-19. Many different businesses and establishments were forced to reduce the amount of their workers and sometimes even close their businesses, shops, branches, etc. entirely. Along with this comes a myriad of issues with the economy and of course, widespread unemployment in the country.  But as we start to recover bit by bit from said situation, we can still clearly see the battered state that our economy is in.  The report I used as reference for this short analysis on one of our biggest issues in the Philippines was taken from...

Rafael Ng OCT 2, 2022  The article followed a receding pattern. What do I mean by that? Let's find out. So, to make it brief, healthcare workers are experiencing a dilemma in which their workplace and salary do not provide for them enough. Not only that, but they also look for better support, salary, and opportunities for the Healthcare industry that other countries provide, therefore leading these said healthcare workers to find permanent solutions by migrating to other countries with better government support for the Healthcare industry as said in the report. The Inside Spectrum: Philippines, the deadliest country in Asia for environmentalists

Image
Nathaniel Pecayo October 2, 2022. The Philippines continues to be a dangerous country for environmental activists and defenders. According to a report made by the International Organization Global Witness in 2021, the Philippines was listed as the deadliest country in Asia and the 4th deadliest country in the world for land and environmental defenders just behind Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. This article, written by Gaea Katreena Cabico on September 29, 2022, manages to convey a strong message of how profit and urban development is being valued more than human rights and environmental preservation.  PH Environmentalists demand justice for fellow Honduran defender Berta Caceres.  (Photo by Carlo Manalansan)  The flow and sequencing of the article was complete and cohesive with some few statistics to truly show the severity of the issue and to introduce the reader to the problem at hand and it provides the reader with a surplus of information thanks to a comprehensive look...

Controlling Inflation Rates

Tristan Nuguid October 2, 2022 A report on an article written by Jason Fernando (September 13, 2022), taken from "  Inflation: What It Is, How It Can Be Controlled, and Extreme Examples (investopedia.com)  ."      The article I am writing about today is about Inflation Rate and ways to manage it and how it can be controlled. The article also talks about the Pros and Cons of Inflation Rate and the type of price indexes. The pattern used in the article that I am reporting to you is geometric. The introduction was first shown to us, then after that it gives us a comprehensive explanation about inflation rates.  Because the article had more content than the introduction, the introduction didn’t really have much information in it, while the content of the article was much more emphasized, detailed, and informative. It was pretty effective because the introduction was very short so that we can go straight to the point and to view what we are really looking...
