Unemployment: Pushing through the rough seas

One of the most common and prevalent issues here in the Philippines is unemployment. Due to unemployment, many people among the lower classes of society are struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families.

One of the more recent and biggest causes of mass unemployment in the Philippines is of course the pandemic brought upon by COVID-19. Many different businesses and establishments were forced to reduce the amount of their workers and sometimes even close their businesses, shops, branches, etc. entirely. Along with this comes a myriad of issues with the economy and of course, widespread unemployment in the country.

But as we start to recover bit by bit from said situation, we can still clearly see the battered state that our economy is in.

The report I used as reference for this short analysis on one of our biggest issues in the Philippines was taken from NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority). The flow of the information was very constant and wasn’t overwhelming as we could get new information with each new line.

This arithmetic way of reporting this information is really convenient for those who want to learn more about the topic. There was no rush to get straight to the point with this report and was fit for a casual reading experience.

An increase in the workforce and employment is always welcome and can help better the economy but as of right now, our economy is barely surviving and our dwindling supply of workers does not help. Employment is such an important aspect of surviving in the modern world, not only as a person but also as a whole nation.
